DVD Commentary Meme - Art edition :P
I've never done this meme before but after some encouragement from pooh_collector and angelita26 I decided to give it a try. Obviously this is the art edition as I have not committed a single fic in my fandom years :P

Here's how it works:

Pick any of my artwork pieces (you can use my AO3 work list which is the closest thing I have to a master list ATM) and comment to this post with that selection (including a link to the artwork). I will then give you a DVD commentary on that piece: what I was thinking when I created it, why I created it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain objects/techniques, struggles and challenging aspects and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

So, I'm picking this one, but this question sort of applies to several pieces you've done in a similar vein.

Thief

How do you come up with these cool fantastic pieces, like this one and the one I wrote fic for last Halloween?

{{{HUGS}}} Oh, that one is one of my favs, I admit :D

Hehe, I have to say that a lot of it is happening at random, hee. Sometimes I see a photo or a screencap and I immediately have the perfect idea for it (like the Halloween one - I had that screencap of Neal and Halloween was coming, so I immediately thought of putting poor Neal in a haunted house :D) Sometimes I see a prompt and I have a vague idea what I could do with it but it usually gets more specific while I look for pics to use. Sometimes I find more or less what I'm looking for and I continue with the initial idea, but sometimes I find something completely different and take a 180 turn with the idea. I just go with the flow :D

Oh, and quite often I use ideas I've seen on the shows I watch, I never recreate scenes from them, just use them for inspiration :)

The Thief was supposed to be just pre-series Neal stealing something from a safe. But I couldn't find a good pic of a room with a safe for me to use. I found this pic of a room in an abandoned building and while the general setup was perfect, I still had to figure out a way to make it look like Neal was stealing something, not just walking into some abandoned building and taking something.

And this is usually the point where the standard brainstorming happens, lol... abandoned building wouldn't have a safe, it could have an old hiding place... who could be guarding it? a security guard? but in an old ruin? maybe a ghost? (yes, me likes)! and the wall is perfect for making a hole in it... if Neal made a hole in it, then there need to be some wooden boards and tools on the floor... he'd probably have a backpack with him... and the thingy he is stealing should be supernatural too, so let's make it glow...

And manip happens :P

I think at some point I'll have to try and record a vid of me doing a manip :D

Thank you ♥ {{{{hugs}}}
