Seriously?!?!
Okay, so I didn't stay up the whole night to watch the Emmys because I had to go to work in the morning and I don't have any vacation days to spare for such occasions. I did set my recorder, though. And now I just have no motivation to watch it :(

I cannot believe that Matty didn't win. Are you f***ing kidding me? I'm not very fond of these award ceremonies because they rarely make sense to me and the winners are quite often in the WTF category, but this year probably for the first time I was not only looking forward to it, I was also so ridiculously proud of Matty and so happy for him that he was finally gonna be recognized for everything that makes him an exceptional actor and a beautiful human being. He gave his very best to this role, his talent, dedication, his health. I don't watch Sherlock but even without watching I just don't believe that there is anything in it that comes even close to Matt's performance in The Normal Heart.

I guess I should be happy that at least they recognized TNH as the best movie. Yeah, well... I am happy, of course, but it's just killing me that the one award that was truly deserved ended up being another WTF :(

This is a sad day /o\

As of today The Normal Heart is available on Blu-ray/DVD, so we can at least once again show our appreciation by securing a copy to be proudly displayed on our shelves :) (*waves* at angelita26)

Have some TNH art. I'm also using my ♥icon for this post, no matter what they say and do, Matty deserves all the hugs and kisses because to us he is the winner ♥

Yes. To all of this. I'm behind on Sherlock, but I loved S1 and what I saw of S2. I think Martin Freeman is a terrific actor. But Matt's performance in Normal Heart was off the charts incredible. And virtually every person writing about the awards felt Matt was a shoo-in, so it's not just "us fans" who thought this. I honestly don't get it.

Someone I know with a friend in the business said that they (the TNH group, I guess) would be happy with the film win, in particular because these awards are actually voted on by a small group of people. I actually read an article in THR that explained how the nominees are chosen by the whole academy, but the awards by very small groups:

This seems like a bizarre way of doing it, but perhaps speaks to the rather weird results (Matt not winning was the biggest snub, IMNSHO, but none of the acting categories for movie/miniseries went to the people most critics seemed to think they would).

Oh, I read that one, too. It was interesting. Yeah, maybe they will change the voting process. One can hope.
